The Maron Electric Company Safety Program is viewed as one of the
premier electrical safety programs. We believe safety starts at
the top: that’s why Eric Nixon, a company owner and president,
remains the Executive Safety Officer of the company. He is able
to oversee, implement and govern a program that declares a strong
safety commitment. Eric Nixon is a past Chair of the NECA Safety
Committee as well as the past Joint Chairman on the Union Contractor
Safety Committee.
Our program was created with significant input from a variety of
industry professionals. The basis of our plan is continual training
that reinforces safe practices in all aspects of work. These practices
are promoted regularly until they become second nature. The safety
plan reflects contractor standards in temporary power and light
plus all other contractor requirements, most of which exceed industry
standards. As a result, Maron Electric is recognized not only for
its workmanship but also for its safety record.
An individual safety plan is prepared for each unique construction
project. This document is developed collectively with the general
foreman, the general contractor and the owner. All appropriate people
are then trained according to the plan as part of the project launch.
Working with Zurich Insurance’s Loss Prevention Personnel
as well as Maron’s Controller, Jim Rowe, as well as Assistant
Safety Director Rich Howe,Jr., Maron has reduced its Experience
Modifier Rate (EMR) significantly. In fact, our EMR has remained
below 1.00 (the industry average) for the past seven years.
